Have You Been Naughty or Nice?
I give up! I can't figure out how to embed, capture the screen, or whatever it is I need to do to put this video on here. But here is a great video of Santa letting Elizabeth know whether she made it on the NICE list. Amanda was very nervous before watching her video. She confessed that she used the word "stupid" yesterday and hoped that Santa would forgive her. He did. Jack hasn't received his message yet, but he is still way too cute to sweat it.

Boomerang Nightmares
Last night Amanda had a terrible dream and came into our room screaming about scary boomerangs. Since it was the middle of the night, I didn't go for details, I just tried to calm her down and get her back to sleep. This morning, the following conversation took place:
Amanda: Elizabeth! I had a scary dream last night.
Elizabeth: You did?
Amanda: You were there and I was there, and we were in a different house, and we were trying to go upstairs and there was boomerangs flying and one hit you and your body opened, and there was bones and blood and then you was dead.
Elizabeth: Amanda, if a lightening bolt hit me and made a hole, I wouldn't die, I would just have to go to the hospital and they would sew me back up.
Amanda: Ohhhhhhhhh! I was scared that you died.
Elizabeth: It isn't a boomerang, it was lightening bolt.
Amanda: It was boomerangs.
Elizabeth: Lightening bolt.
Amanda: No, 'member like on Peter Pan when the pirates shoot the boomerangs from the machines on their ship?
Elizabeth: Yeah, those are lightening bolts that come from those machines.
Amanda: They're orange?
Elizabeth: No, they're black.
Amanda: Oh, well that's what I dreamed about. Those things made you die. But I didn't know you didn't die!

Happy Birthday Elizabeth!
Happy 6th birthday Elizabeth! She had her Build-a-Bear party on Saturday. This was the second time around for the Nicholson gang so they all knew the drill.
Today, Jay, the kids and I went to Elizabeth's school at snack time to deliver a special birthday snack. It was fun to see her in her element. This morning she picked out an all black outfit to match some newly inherited black boots from Blythe. She said she was a birthday Ninja and went to school singing "I love kung fooooooooo."
The Major Award
Our Christmas gift from George and Jennifer came early. I didn't think George would actually do it, but oh, yes he did! I feel exactly like Ralphie's Mom looked in the movie. Jay has agreed that he will take it to work until the children are a little older. Away at college older. That being said, Jack really liked his brief encounter with the major award.

Birthday Cupcakes
I knew I would be in trouble once the fall birthdays (and cold/flu season) came around! So, these are the cupcakes that I intended to make from scratch for each birthday. Here they are:
The Amanda
Rainbow cupcake with vanilla frosting, found here.
The Jay
Italian Cream Cupcake with Cream Cheese Frosting, pictured here,
but I would use this recipe.
The Holly
Blueberry Ricotta Almond cupcakes with blue cream cheese frosting found here.
The Elizabeth
Triple Vanilla Cupcake (minus the crumbled cookie on top) found here.
The Almost Christmas Card Picture
This was almost the one. But I just couldn't do it to Jack. I imagined a 16 year old Jack going "Mom, how could you? Did you even look at me?" It really isn't a great one of the girls either, but it is the only shot where they are all at least looking in the right direction.
I will take Jack for a haircut, then brush his hair, remind Elizabeth that she doesn't have to pose, and remind Amanda that sun in her eyes will not hurt her.
Christmas card picture, take two...

Some Kind of Helicopter Application
This would be the name of my band (if I had one), according to the Emo Band Name Generator. What's yours?
